Dodge Aspen Coupé.jpg

Dodge Aspen (F-body). 1976–80 (prod. 166,419). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door coupé. F/R, 225 in³ (I6 OHV), 318, 360 in³ (V8 OHV). Replacement for Dart, but plagued by quality control problems that should have been discovered. Problems with everything from bodywork to brakes, steering and ignition system. The design was fairly sound, with decent ride and refinement, and the unique wagon drew customers to Chrysler, but thought of as one of the company’s lemons. Facelifted for 1980 model year, with squarer front end and hood from Diplomat. Sold as Dart in some countries.

Manufacturing locations: Hamtramck, Michigan, USA; Ciudad de México, México

Marque: Dodge | Predecessor: Dodge Dart (1971–6) | Successor: Dodge Aries

q.v. Plymouth Volaré, Dodge Diplomat (1977–89), Chrysler LeBaron (1977–81), Monteverdi Sierra, Plymouth Gran Fury (1982–9)
