Daihatsu Charade (G11/G26/G30). 1983–7 (prod. n/a). 3- and 5-door sedan, 3- and 5-door high-roof sedan. F/F, 843, 926, 993 cm³ petrol, 993 cm³ diesel (3 cyl. OHC). Boxier and taller Charade, the idea being greater space efficiency. De Tomaso Turbo continued for this generation, with a one-litre turbocharged engine (from 1984). Turbodiesel introduced 1984, at the time the world’s smallest, but far less refined than petrol model. Homologation 926 special developed, with 76 PS output, though later 926R prototype never made production. Mid-term facelift 1985.
