Daewoo LeMans Racer.jpg

Daewoo LeMans. 1986–97 (prod. 1,034,567). 3-, 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1498, 1598, 1998 cm³ (I4 OHC). Korean version of Opel Kadett E, resembling the original cars at first, with the exception of the five-door hatchback, which gained a six-light glasshouse. Facelift in 1990 with new front grille, not resembling Opel’s. Exported under a variety of names: Pontiac LeMans, Passport Optima, Asüna, Daewoo Racer, Daewoo Fantasy. Built to a price, with more of a domestic-appliance feel than Kadett, but fairly refined as basic transport. Originally with 1·6-litre base engine; 1·5 from 1986.

Manufacturing location: Korea

Marque: Daewoo | Predecessors: Daewoo Maepsy, Pontiac 1000 | Successor: Daewoo Lanos

q.v. Daewoo Cielo, Daewoo Nexia
