Originally a Citroën sub-brand meant to recall the Citroën DS, created to market boutique models based around its core line. In 2014, DS became a marque of its own in China, where it offered the broadest model range. The China-only models even omitted the Citroën double-chevron badge. The rest of the world followed, beginning with the facelifted DS 5 in 2015.
