Citroën C4 (LA/LC). 2004–13 (prod. 2,300,100 approx.). 4- and 5-door saloon, 3-door coupé. F/F, 1360 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1587, 1598, 1997 cm³ petrol, 1560, 1997 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). Citroën revives prewar C4 name for its C-segment competitor on the Peugeot 307 platform, with styling overseen by Jean-Pierre Ploué. Rounded roofline, connecting it with the smaller Citroën C3 (2002–11). Very good handling, balanced well with ride, on conventional suspension; willing DOHC engines. Central LCD speedometer proved clear, even in less than ideal lighting conditions. Steering wheel featured a fixed hub, which worked well. Lane departure warning system on top model. Refresh in 2008. Bioflex 1·6 model from 2008, capable of running on ethanol. Deleted in Europe in 2010 as second-generation C4 débuted, but continued in Argentina.
