Chrysler PT Cruiser.jpg

Chrysler PT Cruiser. 2001–10 (prod. n/a). 5-door wagon, 2-door convertible. F/F, 1598 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1996, 2429 cm³ petrol, 2148 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). Originally destined to be a Plymouth, sharing styling cues with Plymouth Prowler hot rod. Became entry-level Chrysler after DaimlerChrysler merger, with retro styling that was popular at the turn of the century. Launched 2000 for 2001 model year. Initially stylish; dated after the middle of the decade. Dynamically, never a class leader with some sluggish, thirsty engines and noisy by European standards. Nevertheless, a practical car. Convertibles made 2003–8, killed by slow sales.

Manufacturing locations: Toluca, México; Graz, Austria

Marque: Chrysler | Predecessor: Mitsubishi RVR (N10)
