Chrysler Newport. 1974–8 (prod. n/a). 4-door hardtop sedan, 2-door hardtop coupé. F/R, 360, 400, 440 in³ (V8 OHV). New body for ‘fuselage’ generation, with slight improvements in quality and durability, even fuel economy, though it remained pitiful. Roomy inside with soft ride, but noisier than contemporary rivals. Sold poorly in the wake of the 1973 fuel crisis, with the model range cut back during this time.
