1970 Chrysler Newport Cordoba.jpg

Chrysler Newport. 1969–73 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan, 2-door hardtop coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 360, 383, 400, 440 in³ (V8 OHV). ‘Fuselage’ design débuted for 1969, with clean styling and angled cabin meant to recall those of aeroplanes. Longer, wider and heavier than before, with plenty of interior room and large trunk. Poor fuel economy and not the most reliable, typical of US products of the era. Station Wagon now spun off into separate Town & Country line. Cordoba name made its first appearance for 1970 for a special edition. Convertibles to 1970. Largest 440 offered from 1970; 360 deleted after 1971. Refresh in 1972, formal front end in 1973 due to federal safety regulations.

Manufacturing locations: Detroit, Michigan, USA; Newark, Delaware, USA

Marque: Chrysler | Model: Chrysler Newport | Predecessor: Chrysler Newport (1965–8) | Successor: Chrysler Newport (1974–8)
