1980 Chrysler New Yorker.jpg

Chrysler New Yorker (R-body). 1979–81 (prod. 74,701). 4-door sedan. F/R, 225 in³ (I6 OHV), 318, 360 in³ (V8 OHV). Chrysler, with little money in the bank, revamps the B-body platform comprehensively and puts its full-size models on to it. R-body New Yorker still looked substantial, but it was in fact downsized, with 800 lb less weight. Fifth Avenue package introduced in 1979. Largest 360 in³ unit dropped after 1980. Not the best quality, and still heavy despite the downsizing.

Manufacturing location: Detroit, Michigan, USA

Marque: Chrysler | Model: Chrysler New Yorker | Predecessor: Chrysler New Yorker (1974–8) | Successor: Chrysler New Yorker (1982)

q.v. Chrysler Newport (1979–81), Dodge St Regis, Plymouth Gran Fury (1980–1)
