Chrysler 160/Chrysler 180/Chrysler 1609/Chrysler 1610/Chrysler 2 Litres/Chrysler Diesel (C Car). 1970–82 (prod. n/a). 4-door saloon. F/R, 1632, 1812, 1981 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1917, 2007 cm³ diesel (I4 OHV). A new big Simca for the French and a modern Humber for the British, the neat and tidy “American in Paris”, actually ended up pleasing neither French nor Englishmen. Chassis dynamics were capable and very French in their set-up, but the Simca engines produced mediocre performance. Produced in Spain by Barreiros and France at the ex-Simca Poissy factory, and marketed in the UK purely as a Chrysler (the 180 and 2 Litre), but in France and Spain as a Chrysler–Simca (160, 180, 1609, 1610). The 2 Litre model was unveiled in 1972, offered only in automatic form in the UK. Six-cylinder model sold in Australia as the Chrysler Centura. Although it looked very similar to the Hillman–Sunbeam–Chrysler Avenger, it shared little of that car's sales’ success.
