GM tries to crack the electric car again, but nowhere near as successful as the Toyota Prius. Volt used electricity as its primary means of motion, with a petrol engine as back-up. Found modest success: 117,000 had been delivered by the end of June 2016. A second-generation model appeared in 2015 as a 2016 model.
