Styling dulled down from show car, and Delta II platform shared with [[Opel Astra H]] and [[Daewoo Lacetti (J300)]]. Sales from December 2010, with a very slow uptake, despite government rebates. Very fuel-efficient, with EPA rating all-electric mode at 93 mpg (US), but petrol-only mode at 37 mpg (US), though high list price meant that real savings would take some time to recoup for buyers. Differed slightly from [[Opel Ampera]] in styling, though largely identical to [[Holden]] version. Numerous awards, and criticisms in media at the time, with hype surrounding a fire risk that the NTHSA could not reproduce. Heavy though dynamically sound, and slightly short on space in the rear seat and boot.

GM tries to crack the electric car again, but nowhere near as successful as the Toyota Prius. Volt used electricity as its primary means of motion, with a petrol engine as back-up. Found modest success: 117,000 had been delivered by the end of June 2016. A second-generation model appeared in 2015 as a 2016 model.
