Inoffensive, middle-of-the-road sedan, bringing back the Malibu name after a 14-year hiatus, on a stretched N-body platform (such as the Buick Skylark (1992–8), Oldsmobile Alero and Pontiac Grand Am (1998–2005)). Roomy and good value for money, with comfortable seats and features, but never class-leading and noisy.
