Chevrolet Equinox. 2010–17 (prod. 220,000 sold to end of 2010). 5-door SUV. F/F, F/A, 2384 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2997, 3564 cm³ (V6 DOHC). New Equinox, on revised version of Theta platform, related to Daewoo Winstorm. More aggressive looks, with new petrol direct injection engines, though not that great a performer versus some rivals. Refined and quiet, with a decent ride. Good equipment levels and considered a good all-rounder, hampered only by a smaller cargo capacity than some rivals; with GM’s financial issues due to the recession, lived longer than its sell-by date and clearly outclassed toward the end. No direct rivals in the US—big compared with Toyota RAV4 (CA30W) but small compared with Hyundai Santa Fe (DM).
