Chevrolet Celta. 2000–15 (prod. 600,000 approx. to end of 2005). 3- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 999, 1389 cm³ (I4 OHC). Rebodied version of Opel Corsa B for Brazil, aimed at the budget end of the market, and badged Suzuki Fun in Argentina. GM believed that there was room for a well designed small car for the less affluent buyer. Styled by Paulo Konno. Light, good acceleration. Larger 1·4 engine from 2003. Facelift in 2006 to resemble Chevrolet Vectra (2005–11) more. Range trimmed in 2009, removing more upscale Super model; down to 1·0 in two trims (LS and LT) in 2012. Onix replaced more upscale Celtas in November 2012; Onix Joy took over from the rest of the line in 2015.
