Chevrolet Camaro SS.jpg

Chevrolet Camaro. 1993–2002 (prod. n/a). 3-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 3348, 3790 cm³ (V6 OHV), 5664, 5731 cm³ (V8 OHV). Better equipped and looking more lithe, fourth-generation Camaro continued the same formula. Base and Z28 initially, with 3·4 V6 and LT1 V8, with five- or six-speed manual or four-speed automatic. Changes tended to parallel twin Pontiac Firebird (1993–2002), with convertible from 1994, larger V6 from 1995. SS from 1996, with 305 hp, an extra 20 hp over the Z28’s V8. Mid-term changes for 1998 with new, slightly rounder front end and four-wheel disc brakes on all models; LS1 V8 for Z28 and SS, with more power. Increased power for Z28 in 2001, and 35th anniversary SS in 2002. Same concerns as Firebird, with poor refinement and interior, looking plasticky. Handling was very good, as expected.
