1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS.jpg

Chevrolet Camaro. 1970–81 (prod. 1,948,233). 2-door coupé. F/R, 229 in³ (V6 OHV), 250 in³ (I6 OHV), 267, 305, 307, 350, 402 in³ (V8 OHV). Clean, fastback styling for second-generation Chevrolet pony car, with slight “fuselage” effect that let water in via the side windows, poor gas mileage, plenty of weight, and tiny back seat. But, initially, quieter than its rivals. Ride not great, though handling was above average. Not even that well made. Restyles in 1974 and 1978, but little changed through the run. Twinned with Pontiac Firebird (1970–81).

Manufacturing locations: Van Nuys, California, USA; Norwood, Ohio, USA

Marque: Chevrolet | Model: Chevrolet Camaro | Predecessor: Chevrolet Camaro (1969) | Successor: Chevrolet Camaro (1982–92)
