1968 Buick Skylark 2-door hardtop.jpg

Buick Skylark. 1968–72 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan, 2-door coupé, 2-door hardtop coupé, 2-door convertible, 5-door wagon. F/R, 250 in³ (I6 OHV), 350 in³ (V8 OHV). Reasonably reliable if inefficient intermediates, with more sheetmetal. Mechanically similar to previous generation. Only fair amount of room in the rear seats despite 116 in wheelbase (112 in for two-doors). Distinguished from other GM intermediates with Buick’s characteristic ‘Sweepspear’ line along the sides. V6 gone in favour of inline six from Chevrolet. Refresh for 1970 and Skylark absorbed the Special Deluxe line, extending downmarket. Pollution controls added for 1972 along with lower compression. Related to the Buick Sport Wagon (1970–2), which went to the 116 in wheelbase; and the Buick GS (1968–72) muscle car.
