1968 Buick Riviera.jpg

Buick Riviera. 1966–70 (prod. 227,669). 2-door coupé. F/R, 425, 430, 455 in³ (V8 OHV). Sleeker interpretation of original Riviera, retaining rear-wheel drive despite GM considering front-wheel drive for this generation to bring it on to the same platform as Oldsmobile Toronado (1966–70). Some sheetmetal shared with Toronado, though frame was a development of previous Riviera’s, with two inches more in the wheelbase. Hidden front headlamps. Carryover engine for 1966; 430 in³ for 1967. More substantial facelift for 1968. Exposed headlamps, skirted rear wheels and Sweepspear for 1970, along with 455 in³, but sales dropped noticeably. Good ride and brakes.

Manufacturing location: Flint, Michigan, USA; Linden, New Jersey, USA

Marque: Buick | Model: Buick Riviera | Predecessor: Buick Riviera (1963–5) | Successor: Buick Riviera (1971–3)
