Mid-sized Buick, replacing Century and Regal in US market, as well as Oldsmobile Intrigue. Launched 2004 for the 2005 model year, but on the old W-body platform from the 1990s, LaCrosse suffered from an unfortunate name that meant masturbation in Québecois slang, forcing Buick to name the car Allure in Canada, where the first generation was built. Sporting pretensions, but better handling on the more highly specified models. Well built, and considered very good value among American cars. Same platform used on Chinese model, launched 2006, but bodywork (designed in China) more formal, suiting tastes there. For the US 2010 model year, LaCrosse was redesigned with a more sporting silhouette, and US and Chinese models would be unified with the single body style, developed by teams in both countries.

Marque: Buick | Predecessors: Buick Century, Buick Regal, Oldsmobile Intrigue
