BMW Z8 (E52). 2000–3 (prod. 5,703, incl. 555 Alpina). 2-door convertible. F/R, 4941 cm³ (V8 DOHC). BMW 507-inspired sports car, with big V8 at front, and essentially a very well built, hand-finished hot rod when on the road. Design based on Z07 show car. Excellent traction, though chassis took getting used to. BMW’s range-topper these years, filling the gap left by the departed BMW 8er-Reihe. Basis of Alpina Roadster, with lower 280 kW power (compared with 294 kW of standard model, or 400 PS) but higher 519 Nm torque (compared with 500 Nm). Marketed in James Bond film The World Is Not Enough.

Manufacturing location: Germany

Marque: BMW | Predecessor: BMW 8er-Reihe
