BMW Z1. 1989–91 (prod. 8,000 approx). 2-door convertible. F/R, 2494 cm³ (I6 OHC). Small, limited-production roadster from BMW, with Z denoting Zukunft. Notable for its doors retracting into the sills rather than opening out. Plastic panels could be removed from the body and the car could be driven without them. One of the first BMWs to have multi-link suspension. First of the numerous Z sports’ cars from BMW.
