BMW 2500/BMW 2800/BMW 2·8 L/BMW 3·0 S/BMW 3·0 L/BMW 3·0 Si/BMW 3·3 L/BMW 3·3 Li (E3). 1968–77 (prod. 191,445). 4-door saloon, 4-door LWB saloon. F/R, 2494, 2788, 2985, 3210, 3299 cm³ (I6 OHC). New Six saloons, larger than what was in the BMW range at the time. Well made, luxury interior. Good low-end torque, with heavy but communicative steering. US-market model, Bavaria, from 1971. Initially launched as 2500 and 2800. BMW 3·0 S from 1971, Si with fuel injection. Mid-term revamp in summer 1971, with the removal of the C-pillar grilles, revised rear lights, and other changes. Long wheelbase (an extra 100 mm) added 1974, dubbed the L; interior upgrades around this time. BMW 3·3 L with the biggest engine of this series, at 3299 cm³, developing 200 PS. Fuel-injected 3·3 Li with displacement slightly reduced but with a better torque curve.
