AC Mk IV.jpg

Autokraft Mk IV/AC Mk IV/AC Cobra Mk IV. 1982–96 (prod. 470). 2-door roadster. F/R, 4942 cm³ (V8 OHV). Not really a replica: continuation series of AC Cobra cars under Autokraft using the original tooling. Ford 302 in³ V8 with fuel injection mated to Borg–Warner T5 transmission. AC name eventually secured under licence. From 1986, Autokraft’s Brian Ingliss bought AC’s trade mark and set up a new venture, AC Cars Ltd. The company also claimed to have secured the rights to the Cobra name from Ford. The Cobra name was also the subject of a lawsuit from Shelby, and some contemporary brochures show simply ‘AC Mark IV’. Lightweight shown at 1990 Salon de Genève, with 1,070 kg, 370 hp and no catalytic converter.

Manufacturing location: Weybridge, Surrey, England

Marque: AC | Model: AC Cobra | Successor: AC Cobra Mk IV
