Austin Lancer Series II.jpg

Austin Lancer Series II. 1959–62 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/R, 1489 cm³ (I4 OHV). Australian-developed successor to Wolseley-based model, promising big-car performance with small-car economy. Longer wheelbase with larger boot and fins, apeing American design and BMC Farina saloons such as the Austin A60 Cambridge. Larger fuel tank, up 2 gal to 9 gal. Now a badge-engineered version of the Morris Major Series II. Same engine as before, but stronger suspension and rear axle under the skin to cope with Australian conditions.

Manufacturing location: Victoria Park, South Australia, Australia
