Austin 1100 Mk II/Austin 1300 Mk II (ADO 16). 1967–73 (prod. 1,119,800 approx. incl. Mk I and Mk III, incl. 59,000 approx. America). 2- and 4-door saloon, 3-door estate. F/F, 1098, 1275 cm³ (I4 OHV). Improved version of Issigonis’s mid-sized car, with fins less prominent, and more brightwork. Countryman with 1·3 only from March 1968. GT model from 1969, as BL’s answer to sporting Ford and Vauxhall models, featuring twin-carburettor 1·3 and slightly lowered suspension. Britain’s top-selling car to 1970. Countryman estate received similar improvements. Replaced in 1971 by Mk III, but GT continued to 1973. Exported to US, Canada and Switzerland as Austin America.
