Austin-Healey Sprite Mk IV.jpg

Austin-Healey Sprite/Austin Sprite. 1966–71 (prod. 20,357 to 1969; 1,411 revised versions; 1,022 Austin). 2-door convertible. F/R, 1275 cm³ (I4 OHV). Final development of Sprite with 65 bhp 1·3 and permanently attached hood, twinned with MG Midget Mk III. Revisions in 1969 as Sprite was readied for the 1970s, with recessed grille, slimmer bumpers, black sills and ROstyle wheels, sold in the home market. Some call these last cars the Mk V, though contemporary authorities still list them as Mk IV. Healey name disappeared on final 1,022, saving a licensing fee. Eventually phased out in favour of MG Midget, which continued through the 1970s.

Manufacturing location: Abingdon-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England

Marque: Austin-Healey | Model: Austin-Healey Sprite | Predecessor: Austin-Healey Sprite Mk III | Successor: MG Midget Mk III
