First modern Audi developed under [[Volkswagen]] ownership, related to [[Volkswagen Passat (B1)]]; the estate was largely identical to the Passat Variant except for the front end, and the factory it was built in. Modern OHC engines shared with VW. Very light and economical. Exported to the US as Audi Fox. Facelift in 1976 to ''Typ'' 82, sharing a family look with the [[Audi 100 (C2)]]; 1·6 replaced 1·5. The new front end eventually found its way to Brazilian-market Passat B1s.
