Upscale 100, with increasingly more powerful engines (up to 220 PS), topped later in the run by a 200 Exclusiv model with flared wheel arches. Wider headlights outside; luxuriously equipped inside. Four-wheel-drive Quattro models with manual gearbox only; manuals and autos for FWD 200s. Chinese models included a V6. German production to 1991. FAW of China also added a 1·8 in 1996, and the 200 was given a mild facelift that year. Chinese 200s from 1997 were treated to 20V bumpers and an Audi V8 bonnet. DOHC V6 added at the end of the 1990s.
