Aston Martin Vantage V550.jpg

Aston Martin Vantage. 1993–2000 (prod. 279). 2-door coupé. F/R, 5340 cm³ (V8 DOHC). Brutal version of Virage, with slightly different sheetmetal and 550 hp, thanks to twin Eaton superchargers. Torque a massive 550 lb ft. At the time, the most powerful production engine in the world, and it needed it: this was a heavy car, weighing 1,990 kg. Very rapid despite bulk. Six headlights. Never Virage Vantage, though some later cars were badged V8 Vantage. Various parts’ bins from other manufacturers used: Citroën CX door mirrors, replaced by Jaguar ones later; Mondeo door handles introduced during run. V600 Works conversion from 1998, with 600 hp; 40 Le Mans models at end of run (1999–2000), commemorating 1959 win at the Sarthe. The last of the big, coachbuilt Astons.

Manufacturing location: Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes, England

Marque: Aston Martin | Model: Aston Martin Vantage | Predecessor: Aston Martin V8 (1972–89) | Successor: Aston Martin V12 Vanquish

q.v. Aston Martin Virage (1989–95)
