William Towns’s classic shape, revised for the 1970s under Company Developments, was Aston Martin’s mainstay through some of its darkest times. The original V8 survived till 1989, when it was replaced by the Virage, but when that model was revised, the V8 moniker returned. An unrelated model, the V8 Vantage, débuted in 2005 as part of a new generation of Astons.
