Amphicar 770.jpg

Amphicar 770. 1961–8 (prod. 3,878). 2-door convertible. F/R, 1147 cm³ (I4 OHV). Hans Trippel-designed amphibious car with Triumph Herald engine. Majority of output went to the US, but exports were killed off due to new legislation for 1968, and the company went under soon after. Even ‘1968’ models were not built that year, but assembled. Not particularly quick on water or land: 7 knots on the water, 70 mph on land.

Manufacturing location: Lübeck, Germany; Berlin, Germany

Marque: Amphicar
