Alfa Romeo 6 (Progetto 119). 1979–86 (prod. 12,070). 4-door saloon. F/R, 1997, 2493 cm³ (V6 OHC), 2494 cm³ diesel (I5 OHC). Awful large car, dynamically dated on launch. Alfa’s financial position and the fuel crisis meant the launch of its flagship was delayed from 1973 to 1979. Heavy, so the 2·5 V6 had trouble pulling it around and fuel consumption was derisory. Alfetta-like styling did not help with its prestigious ambitions. Mid-term facelift in 1983. On the domestic market, there was a two-litre model, as well as a turbodiesel with the engine by VM.

Manufacturing location: Arese, Milan, Italy

Marque: Alfa Romeo | Predecessor: Alfa Romeo 2600 | Successor: Alfa Romeo 164
