Alfa Romeo 2000/FNM 2000 (Tipo 102). 1958–68 (prod. 2,927 saloon in Italy only, 704 coupé). 4-door saloon, 2-door coupé. F/R, 1975 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Update of the Alfa Romeo 1900 of the 1950s but with more upright styling, shown at Torino in 1957. Five-speed column gearchange. DOHC engine developed 110 PS, with Sprint coupé (Giugiaro-styled, at Bertone, with four headlamps) developing 115 PS. Saloons were roomy, although the sills were high. A facsimile of this model was made at FNM in Brazil, as the FNM 2000 JK (JK was the Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek’s initials), from 1961 to 1969, but with lower compression to cope with the local fuel. The FNM’s tachometer was a first in a Brazilian-made car. One of the most expensive cars in Brazil at the time, under the Simca Présidence. JK initials dropped in 1964 after a coup. TIMB (Turismo Internacional Modello Brasile) model from 1966, with the bumper overriders removed, a lower Alfa Romeo grille, 160 PS from the engine, and the gearshift relocated to the floor.
