Alfa Romeo 155 (Progetto 167). 1992–8 (prod. 192,618). 4-door saloon. F/F, F/A, 1599, 1747, 1748, 1773, 1970, 1995 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1929 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 2492 cm³ (V6 OHC), 2499 cm³ diesel (I4 OHV). I.DE.A-penned successor to 75, on Tipo 3 platform, switching to front-wheel drive. Twin Spark and V6s the best performers. Mid-term changes, and wide-body look, from 1995. From then, used as the basis for touring car competition models, helping to establish its credibility as a sporting saloon. Alfa’s quality woes stayed with the 155, meaning electrical and mechanical glitches.

Manufacturing location: Pomigliano d’Arco, Campania, Italy

Marque: Alfa Romeo | Predecessor: Alfa Romeo 75 | Successor: Alfa Romeo 156
