Alfa Romeo 147 (Tipo 937). 2000–9 (prod. n/a). 3- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 1599, 1970 cm³ petrol, 1910 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 1910 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 3179 cm³ (V6 DOHC). European Car of the Year for 2001, with attractive styling by Walter de’Silva and Wolfgang Egger. Mid-term facelift in 2004, bringing 147 into line with larger 159 and Brera. Hot hatch GTA flagship with 247 bhp the most distinctive. Good handling, but firm ride.
