2001 Acura CL Type S.jpg

Acura CL (YA4). 2001–3 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. F/F, 3210 cm³ (V6 OHC). Completely redesigned, and now based on the Acura TL (UA4). Second-generation CL remained bland, although at least the fours were gone. Type S denoted the sporting model and had rougher ride thanks to the tauter suspension. V6 had the power—it was Honda’s most powerful front-wheel-drive car at the time—and CL was very well equipped. A very good handler, but hampered in the segment by being front-wheel-drive. Let down by interior. Very few manuals were made, and there were transmission failures on some automatics, as with the TL.

Manufacturing location: Marysville, Ohio, USA

Marque: Acura | Model: Acura CL | Predecessor: Acura CL (YA1)
