New AC for the ’70s, based around Diablo show car of 1972. Delays due to type approval and redesigns meant that the first production cars did not emerge till 1979. First AC mid-engined car. Engine too heavy, which meant that 3000 ME was never that sporty. AC (Scotland), which wound up building the cars from 1984, went into receivership the following year, with ME production stopped.
