Efini MS-8. 1992–6 (prod. n/a). 4-door hardtop sedan. F/F, 1995, 2497 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Yet another variation of the Mazda Cronos, a hardtop sedan replacing the Persona. Styled as an upscale luxury car for Mazda’s new sales’ channel as the company pursued an ill-fated multi-channel strategy. Unique instrument panel. Never that successful, as with all of the Cronos-based models, thanks to Mazda’s poor retailing decisions at the time, making cars available exclusively through only selected dealers. Price cuts by 1993, minor revisions in 1994. Driver’s airbag in 1995. Production ended in 1996, and the Efini channel was merged into Eunos.
