Efini MS-6.jpg

Efini MS-6 (GE). 1991–7 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1840, 1991 cm³ (4 cyl. DOHC), 1844, 1995, 2497 cm³ (V6 DOHC), 1998 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. OHC). While most countries knew the MS-6 as the Mazda 626 liftback, Japanese buyers were more confused as Mazda indulged in its ill-fated multi-brand strategy. Twinned with Ford Telstar TX5. Basically a Cronos liftback, but not that popular in Japan—Japanese buyers criticized the lack of rear headroom. Dynamically identical to Cronos. Short-lived in Japan, sold to 1994, and replaced by the more conventional Capella, but continued for export to 1997.

Manufacturing location: Hiroshima, Japan

Marque: Efini | Predecessor: Mazda Capella (GD) | Successors: Mazda Capella (CG), Mazda Capella (GF)

q.v. Mazda MX-6 (1991–7)
