Volkswagen replaces the last all-Czech effort, the Felicia, with a model based on the Polo platform. Cheaper materials, and some lethargic eight-valve engines, in the first series of Fabias, with an emphasis on ride rather than handling. Second-generation model from 2007 followed a similar formula.
