Škoda 100/Škoda 110/Škoda 120 S (Typ 722/Typ 717/Typ 719/Typ 728). 1969–77 (prod. n/a). 4-door saloon. R/R, 988, 1107 cm³ (I4 OHV). Modernized MB, with development starting in 1964. Front and rear redesigned to look squarer as rounded shapes went out of fashion. Roomier for luggage. Minor changes inside: new steering column and new instrument and control layout (though with suspect trim and switchgear quality); handling remained poor with swing-axle suspension at rear. Typ 722 denoted 100, Typ 717 was the 110. In 1971, Typ 719, the 110 LS, was released, with electric windscreen washer and rear side windows that could be opened. Homologation 120 S (Typ 728) appeared, with 64 PS from 1·2-litre engine (racing models had more than twice the power); 100 units were made between autumn 1971 and February 1972, with fairly substantial engineering changes. Changes for 1972, with fuel flap rather than an exposed filler neck, and improved ventilation. Two extra headlamps for 110 LS in 1972 for 1973 model year. Recessed door handles the following year, with quality and ventilation improvements; modern alternator for base models in 1973. Millionth rear-engined Škoda on August 29, 1973. Spawned 110 R coupé and derivatives (q.v.).
