Nissan, realizing European buyers wanted dynamism, tuned its second-generation Primera at the Nürburgring, and it was blessed with multi-link suspension front and rear. Excellent, sporty handling. Despite this, the styling remained dull, though it was a favourite of buyers who wanted dependable transport. Facelift for UK models in 1999, gaining more rounded front end. Camino denoted a Primera sold through the Sunny chain of dealers in Japan; UK-built hatchback imported to Japan was Primera UK 2·0 GT from 1997; four-door sedan sold as Infiniti G20 in US.
