Autocade is an international car cyclopædia that’s geographically unbiased, carefully edited for enthusiasts and media who want a quick, accurate reference. There is a greater emphasis on models produced after 1970.

Inside Autocade

Proton Persona (BH6)

2016 Proton Persona VVT.jpg

Proton Persona (BH6). 2016 to date (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, 1597 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Proton directly replaces the Persona with an awkward-looking sedan based around the Iriz. No longer in the C-segment, but in the B, but with more headroom, legroom and boot space than its predecessor. Rivalling Toyota Vios (NCP150), Honda City (GM6), and Perodua Bezza. Interior carried over from Iriz, though exterior had greater differences. Improved CVT automatic, and softer than Iriz, but still with good grip, ride and stability.

Manufacturing location: Malaysia

Marque: Proton | Model: Proton Persona | Predecessor: Proton Persona (CM6)

Daihatsu Boon Luminas

Daihatsu Boon Luminas/Toyota Passo Sette (M502G/M512G). 2008–12 (prod. n/a). 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 1495 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Small seven-seat minivan, sold under Boon and Passo nameplates, and built by Daihatsu. Targeted at female buyers, emphasizing ease of driving. Discontinued due to poor sales. Malaysian version called the Perodua Alza.

Manufacturing location: Kyoto, Japan

Marque: Daihatsu | Model: Daihatsu Boon | Predecessor: Daihatsu Atrai 7

Austin Lancer Series II

Austin Lancer Series II. 1959–62 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/R, 1489 cm³ (I4 OHV). Australian-developed successor to Wolseley-based model, promising big-car performance with small-car economy. Longer wheelbase with larger boot and fins, apeing American design and BMC Farina saloons such as the Austin A55 Cambridge Mk II. Larger fuel tank, up 2 gal to 9 gal. Now a badge-engineered version of the Morris Major Series II. Same engine as before, but stronger suspension and rear axle under the skin to cope with Australian conditions.

Manufacturing location: Victoria Park, South Australia, Australia

Marque: Austin | Model: Austin Lancer | Predecessor: Austin Lancer Series I | Successor: Morris Major Élite
