Originally launched in 1938 as part of the Series III line, this was the quintessential police Wolseley model, with a longer bonnet than lesser Series IIIs. Production resumed autumn 1945 after World War II, lasting till 1948. In the 1960s, the designation was reused for the third Landcrab saloon line to appear, this time more upmarket, with distinctive Wolseley grille and a more well appointed club lounge-like interior.
