Volkswagen 1300/Volkswagen 1600 (Typ 1). 1979–83 (prod. n/a). 2-door sedan. R/R, 1285, 1584 cm³ (F4 OHV). Brazilian Käfer continues despite saloon production ending in Emden, Germany in 1978. Larger rear lights (nicknamed Fafá in Brazil, after singer Fafá de Belém) for 1300L and 1600. From 1981, the 1300 could run alcohol. New equipment in 1982 to 1300GL spec, including AM–FM radio, cigarette lighter, front head restraints, rear window defroster.
