Incredibly popular in Russia, thanks to price and availability of different body styles (complemented by 1117 estate and 1119 hatch). Slow gestation, with development having begun in 1990, and concept shown in 2000. Smaller 1·4 engine from 2007. Exported as Lada Kalina. Replaced in 2011 by VAZ 2190, or Lada Granta.
