1991 Toyota Camry.jpg

Toyota Camry (SV20/VZV20/CV20). 1986–92 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 1832 cm³ petrol, 1974 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1838, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1992, 2507 cm³ (V6 DOHC). More grown-up, luxurious and cohesive-looking Camry, with slightly rounded look. Well equipped. Home market had four-door sedan and hardtop only; the latter was exported as a Lexus ES to the US. Wagon was for export only. Non-Japanese-market Camrys had the Vista grille. Australian production from 1987, and continued to 1992; it was twinned with the Holden Apollo (1989–93). Camry Prominent with 2·0 V6 from 1987 with some external visual differences. US production at Kentucky from 1988. Japanese production to 1990. A hit in the US and Australasia, spelling the beginning of the end of the Corona line in New Zealand, but virtually invisible in Europe, despite 2·5 V6.
