Talbot–Matra Murena (M551/M552). 1980–3 (prod. 10,680). 3-door coupé. M/R, 1592 cm³ (I4 OHV), 2155 cm³ (I4 OHC). Successor to Bagheera with three-abreast seating at front and low Cd of 0,328, styled by Antonis Volanis. Composite resin and fibreglass body and bumpers in SMC (sheet-moulding compound), later used on the Renault Espace (I to III) and Renault Avantime. Standard models with Poissy 1·6 and 2·2 from Talbot Tagora, though there were rare, potent 142 PS models with a tuned version of the latter, called Preparation 142 (prod. 74) and the Murena S (prod. 480). A 175 PS model never materialized.
