Small car brand, the brainchild of Swatch CEO Nicolas Hayek. Teaming up with Daimler-Benz, after Volkswagen passed on the deal, a new factory was set up to build the city cars. Swatch eventually withdrew, leaving Daimler-Benz to complete the project, with the first cars emerging in 1998.
